Little Richard Passes On..

Richard Wayne Penniman a.k.a Little Richard has passed on, He was aged 89 years old. Little Richard was an American singer, songwriter, and musician who specialized in rock and roll, rhythm and blues, gospel and soul gene of music.

Although, the younger generation may not know much of him but this was a man that influenced numerous singers and musicians across musical genres from rock to hip hop; his music helped shape rhythm and blues for generations to come. His first major hit record was "tutti frutti" in 1955 which became his signature and model for the future. It topped the chats in the USA and overseas in UK. He released hit singles  consecutively for more than three years and integrating both white Americans and African Americans with his live performances at different shows through out the world. His fame grew as he toured the world and at some time during his tour in Europe, the beatles were his back up singers and were taught how to perform his songs and vocalizations.

Little Richard as he was fondly called, like MJ (Michael Jackson) was one of the few musical icons who reached audiences of all races through his music and concerts as he was able to break the color line, drawing blacks and whites together despite attempts to sustain separation of people by race. He was part of the pioneer inductees for the  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and also a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy and the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.  In 2015, he was given an award by the National Museum of African American Music for his key role in the formation of popular music genres and helping to bring an end to the racial divide on the world music charts - reason why some Africans can be nominated today for grammy awards and eventually win it.

He was a talented and impressive vocalist with a unique style and this gained his major hit ''tutti fruit'' to be included in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2010, where it was acclaimed that  his "unique vocalizing over the irresistible beat announced a new era in music".

Rest on Sir.... Rest on musical legend and icon
